It's at this point that Jen interjects, and explains that she was sitting at the bar, patiently awaiting her date...but time was passing. The bartender, seeing that she was alone and obviously feeling stood up, kept offering and pouring drinks, so she stuck around. Eventually, Breck texted, and finally showed up. He explained that he had spent the night before helping out a buddy, therefore, stayed up late, and overslept. They talked, shared drinks, laughed, and both say they felt so comfortable and happy-that they decided to see each other again...
This is when Breck finishes the story-and explained that before they left each other that night, he came clean and told her that he had stayed up too late the night before, and had started their date by telling a bit of a white lie as to the reason he showed up late for their date...Jen blushed and said...'When he told the truth, that's when I knew...'
WOW!!! ALL THE FEELS!!! And with Breck saying that he didn't want to start a relationship with this perfect and beautiful girl on a lie, we fast forward to now...as the two vowed to spend the rest of their lives as one!
Not only did they have a charming 'first time we met' story, but they had planned to have a charming wedding as well. They said that they wanted to have the ceremony and reception at their home-in their backyard. The ladies got ready at a nearby hotel, and the guys got ready at the house. So, we had a little fun getting some photos as the nerves built up!
The brides dress was gorgeous! As designed by Rebecca Ingram, it was lacy, sexy, and classic white in color. The vintage style was perfect for the day, and fit Jen beautifully.
Just before heading to the house for the ceremony, mom-Cindy wanted to say a few words to her daughter and take a good look at her in the last moments of being a single woman...
Meanwhile, the guys were getting ready and having a great time at the house. So-as we mentioned, the wedding was in their backyard. When we met up originally to discuss details, they explained that after looking at venues and seeing what was out there, they had both talked about investing in their home instead to make it the paradise that they would want to celebrate their special day at with their family and friends.
We have got to admit-calling this a backyard wedding does not do it justice!!! They went all out. A labor of love, Breck spent countless hours getting everything just right. From the landscaping, to the cigar room, to the handcrafted arch that they would get married under, they left no detail out. They truly created their own little paradise, and we had so much fun capturing it!
Although they wanted to wait for their 'first look' to be when the bride walked down the aisle, we did spend a few minutes before the ceremony with dad and get a first look with him...he got to see his gorgeous daughter, on her wedding day, just before he gave her away to her husband.
So with all the advice given, the tears shed, and the nerves creeping in...it was time-let's go watch a wedding!
They wrote their own vows, and when it was time to 'Kiss the Bride', the newly married couple gave quite a show!
So, let's celebrate!
From the first dance, to the toast, to the cake, the party went on and the atmosphere was intimate, fun, and full of laughter and great friends.
Each first dance was unique...as bride and groom danced romantically, the crowd watched with smiles and adoration in their eyes. As the bride danced with her father, the emotion could be seen and felt by all-and the special significance of dad/daughter dance was complete when Breck danced with his daughter, Amelia-and she stole the show-by dipping him!
Finally, groom and mom had their special moment that many parents envision for a lifetime. Everything was absolutely, perfectly, gorgeous.
You never know what life has for you just around the corner, and I am sure that when these two met online, they sure didn't predict that they were meeting their soulmate. But they have now become Mr. and Mrs. Smith. We could not feel more honored to have been a part of their special day, and to have been pleasantly surprised at the beauty of a 'backyard wedding'. They achieved their goal of making their backyard their venue, and we are sure that they will forevermore enjoy living happily ever after-in their paradise. Congratulations Jen and Breck!
